THE PRELIMINARY COUNCIL SESSION

The preliminary council of the institute was held on 19th July 2006 at the guest house/conference centre of the University of Lagos Akoka-Yaba.

In his welcome speech the chairman in the council, Dr oyatoye Emmanuel emphasized that operations research corroborate good knowledge and understanding of many other discipline. He further identified OR as a scientific method and approach in allocating scarce resource to various activities of specialization in achieving a meaningful goal in every organization.

The registrar of the institute canalize mainly on the Institute being the bedrock for efficient decision making for improved systems performance in Nigeria. With the mission of reorientating and advancing the knowledge, practice, method and application of operation. Research to all areas of human endeavours. He further noted .that the two fundamental issues to Operations Research are: /its science basis and its pervasive application and applicability in all human endeavours.
